Possibilities of Using the Duplex System Plasma Nitriding + CrN Coating for Special Components

The article deals with the replacement of hard chrome plating by applying duplex system plasma nitriding + CrN coating (hereinafter referred to as PN CrN). goal research was find a suitable alternative for steel surface treatment that would replace and ensure similar mechanical tribological properties. An exposed part small-bore weapon selected evaluation, namely gas piston 42CrMo4 breech mechanism drive. compared well self-deposited coating. mentioned treatments were evaluated in terms metallography, properties texture. From properties, hardness analyzed, an indentation test performed (Mercedes test) adhesive-cohesive behavior (Scratch test). Furthermore, instrumented penetration (an evaluation plastic elastic deformation work hardness). As assessment Ball-on-Flat test, measurement coefficient friction traces wear performed. texture morphology roughness 2D 3D parameters. showed higher than chrome, better (lower coefficient), but worse has proven be parts small-caliber weapons, which can applied arms production.
